The other day marked 500 days since I originally left Toronto on this wild journey, a milestone I honestly never thought I’d be writing about and one I’ve also struggled to write about over the past few days. As most of you might have noticed it been ages since I last posted and it was pretty infrequent before that. Part of the reason behind that is I’ve moved into a different phase of my travels, last year my road trip around North America was filled with adventure day after day and now I’ve settled into a slow travel mentality, I’ve rented a room in Melbourne and am exploring living in a new city.
It definitely isn’t as glamorous or exciting as living on the road but it’s been a real nice change of pace, a little time to recover, recoup and rethink what’s next for me. Unfortunately two months later I still haven’t figure out what’s next for me but I’ve also been finding recently that it may be time to move on or to try working again. As much fun as it is being completely free of responsibility, going to the beach everyday and watching countless hours of TV, it has started to lose its appeal and I’m starting to crave something more.
In the mean time I’ve cleaned up my act quite a bit, from my grossly unhealthy eating habits of living on the road to eat a clean and healthy diet at home plus returning to exercise that’s been lacking over the past two years has allowed me to drop over 10 lbs in the past two months. Along side that I’ve cut back my drinking for multiple reasons, with money and health being at the top but also as I’m no longer a spring chicken the hangovers have been getting worse and worse. And more importantly I’m struggling with quitting smoking, well it may take a few tries to get that right it’s about fucking time I rid myself of that bad habit, that has sucked up way too much of my money and health. No more losing my breath while walking up a flight of stairs, in fact the last two weeks I’ve taken almost daily walks down to the beach and back, a round trip of about 5km without getting winded in the least.
I’m not sure what I to do with B’s Travel at this point but if I decide to hit the road again I’ll get back to more frequent updates with some exciting adventures or if I decide to head back in to the rat race I’ll keep you’ll posted and hopefully provide some insight into what it’s like working on the other side of the world. But until then I don’t have much else to report back.
